I feel the more humans move towards technology we lose our love for real

The real magic here is that it’s a VERY simple structure musically (“wide
open,” I always called it), and no one’s flinging random notes all over the
place.

The drums are (as a singing drummer) a basic drummer 101 idea: four (kick)
on the floor (like much of funk/disco) snare in the 2 n 4 as almost always
in most music and a few simple, no BS fills. If you throw in too much junk,
it sounds bad. But it’s always the notes you DON’T play that make it.

Minus the fast tempo and the feel (there goes 20 years :): kidding, you
either have it or you don’t but you can come into it after playing
awhile)…there’s nothing complex here.

It’s just insanely fun and the challenge is in driving the song for the
band and the crowd with the feel. This is driving in a straight line if it
were a car 🙂 but in a Ferrari…

Oddly, you wouldn’t think a lil white chick like me would have a strange
affinity for funk/disco beats. I seem to just get them and the best feel
I’ve ever played using them…course, they always have GREAT singers and
bass players.

my humble opinion is one of the greatest songs of my era. I’m pushing 64
years of age hard. That includes all of the Motown, Epic, Sony, artists.
Ray Charles, Isaac Hayes, Dionne Warwick , Gladys Knight, Luther, and many,
many more. I did not include the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Barry Manilow
and others because I didn’t want to have any subjective arguments.
