Just seeing this performance of an all-time favorite for the first time and
I got caught-up and carried away Y’all! What beautiful lyrics and
melody??!! Makes you wanna “KEEP HOPE ALIVE”…
Never saw this (don’t recall) live version on Soul Train ! Thanks for
posting it. Grew up listening to Al Green – wow, nice ! Nice intro by the
l;ate Don Cornelius…
One of few artists that would consistently come on Soul Train and perform a
live set. I just loved how this man would feel himself so much in the song
to point it made you as audience member engage even more into his
performance. AL is a legend and all those gold singles and albums in one
year. This man was a true talent and one of kind artists.
He has one of the most beautiful smiles and stage performance I have ever
seen. I honestly love when an artist can get into their music and have fun
with the music.
Hey Fabio, thanks for recognizing the genius of the late Mr. Larry Lee on
guitar. He actually spent time playing with Jimi Hendrix. They were Army
partners I do believe.
I have this cd and I just love this song! I’m a 1969 child so I grew up
hearing alot of AG songs. This song along with many Al Green songs
reminds me of the good times growing up that I will always cherish. Folks
back then were real and down to earth..none of the foolishness like we see
going on today.
RIP Don Cornelius for all the Soul Train memories (luv that suit and tie!).
Thanks to Rev. Al Green, one of the most soulful artists to ever hit the
stage.”Live” vocals, no autotune, just pure talent. He shows how to put the
soul in “soulful R & B”.
The master Larry lee on guitar!!!
Helluva Introduction Don…Man, RIP
Money’s so smooth…
