I’m a white dude, but I loved all the black r&b music from the ’60’s and
’70’s…the Supremes, the Temptations, the Four /tops, the Marvelettes,
Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight & the Pips, the Delfonics, the Stylistics, the
O’Jays, Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes, etc….I could go on and on. Love
’em all!!!
Have anybody noticed that the sista has clothes on?
How did music go from awesome like this, to booty music dumb kids listen to
now. Wish I lived in the 40s to early 90s those were good times. Don’t even
wanna know what the future will be like.

I Had To Take Y’all Back to My Youth! When Soul Train Was Everything! A
Classic Right Here !
OOH CHILD The Five Stairsteps: http://youtu.be/yrotsEzgEpg
Such a simple song with such a simple message. Pigs will fly when the likes
of Beyonce, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber Miley Cyrus etc. create
a song powerful enough to move you to tears.

Soul Train…red light basement parties with your folks upstairs. Every
body in the hood knew everybody else and kids were scared of their parents.
Pure music and vocals, songs with a positive message…going over to Black
Ivory. See you there!
This was the theme song of my life. Whenever things were upside down Mom
always played or sang this song to me.
cannot seem to find any pics of ALOHE BURKE. can anyone send me links?
This is my family
I’m proud to say my uncles and aunt made a difference with this song!
My father Cubie Burke was also talented .
Rip to cubie my loving father & to my uncle Clarence Burke (who sings the
lead)
Loved it then & it has helped me get through hard times for years. <3
How I long for these days again, *sigh* 🙁 life was so much simpler back
then !
OOH CHILD The Five Stairsteps: tbh baby
That guy on the right is incredibly talented.
I first heard this song at the end of the movie Over The Edge.
don’t worry MJ we will get it done.
I remember listening to this song in the projects while dancing in front of
an open fire-hydrant, one white kid in the ghetto. Man I had a lot of fun.
r first life we live is under satan then, r second life is under God. The
Majesty of The Five Stairsteps with Ooh Child while satan is in power…God
wanted mankind to hear this message. After mankind has been trialed and
tested, Life with God, is r future. This song makes us aware of a soon
coming reality for all. We r a creation together, we r family together.
Soon to be apart of Gods family, r spiritual Father. Enjoy listening to one
of many messages of God r father has given to us. The one with the power of
resurrection, will unite all of r loved ones. We will know the full scale
of the power of love and family for the first time.

Simple & Very Deep….
Some Day Things will Get Brighter…
a great pick me upper a song about HOPE read emily dickenson same message
different method-peace to all
I love their styles, and the song. Miss the 70s.
This classic song was as much the anthem for the early seventies as any
song. Simple, but with a heartfelt message. Isn’t it strange how NOBODY
sings memorable, emotionally impactful songs like this anymore? It’s like
the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s were a juicier, tastier, totally different world
from today’s blander existence.
born in 1960. 1970 on lived in DC. wish the afro would make a come back.
remember a black dude telling be a blow out was where the hair root was
stretched like 2 inches long. haha think he was pulling my leg. as I’m
watching all the cool black groups I grew up with I wonder if black folks
liked singers Karen Carpenter and the like. I’m sure there are just
wonderig if a few or lots like the white groups. groups I loved where 5th
D, Spinners, War, 3rd Degree and the like. I grew up in a great time of
music. lived thru the 50s music with America Graffiti. now in my opinion
not really any new orginal music anymore. watching a lot of covers now.

Praying for a better world that’s a little more sharing, loving, caring and
giving….wishful thinking I guess…
man when people wrote songs like this
I love love love love love love love love this song thats why we need to
embrace our true culture and not a thug lifestyle perpetuated onto us by
stereotypes and mainstream media
This was back when black groups made beautiful fun music To bad to many of
todays kids make that hate filled crime ridden depressing rap shit Very sad
a whole generation is lost

Plain & simple…. Music WAS music in the 50’s 60’s & Early 70/s….
Today’s young generation likes jester boober and many other clowns out
there. Motown & Do wop ruled..
Hey Stairsteps, send me a picture of your sister. She must be close to 50
now, I think.
One fabulous singing family, and a treasure.

You all need to just shut up and get over it. Just listen to the music and
shut the fuck up.
Yep great song great times, much nicer then than now. 70’s an early 80’s
was a good time for me.
You don’t get much more real than this song and especially this version.
What a heart!
I remember this tune from “Boys in da Hood” when he takes his son
fishing….
I like Nina Simone’s cover of this song.
Wow. Got a lot of goosebumps and a couple of tears listening to this.
Really brought back some great memories of a much simpler and lighter
time.
