water. The end was funny though because his hype man didn’t know what to do
at the end lol. He was like ” soul brotha James Brown! James Brown! but the

live on Soul Train. 95% of the artists who came on Soul Train lip synched
(Don’s preference) so for you to get a green light to perform LIVE was

The band looks a little disinterested because they are concentrating. One
slip up JB’s gonna fine you $50. Besides, these cats have played these
arrangements so many times (300 gigs a year by some count) that they just
feel them. And the star of the show is JB. If anyone is gonna get it on,
it’s JB!
All you tech types…look at the live vocal mike…an E-V 635A!! The Hammer
Mike that could (and still does) everything! Don’t sound bad at all despite
being an omnidirectional in that environment. Those damn big VOX stack amps
firing right at it-no feedback! And the band…Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley,
Jabo Starks…wow!

I wish you wouldn’t have cut out the Don Cornelius commentary. This was
part and parcel of an era, a feeling, a zeitgeist of this time in history.
How the 2 drummers transition back and forth without missing a beat or
break in the music was just brilliant. At the 3:00-5:14.
