This episode was filmed in 1975, six months after Al Green’s girlfriend
committed suicide. WIthout a doubt, the power of soul drove all his demons
away. Thank you for this precious upload, and thank you AL GREEN!

Yup. Definitely not 72′. I watched the 72′ show when it aired. But Al Green
still (and always will) stir my soul with his voice. Thank God for LP’s!
Nothing…and I mean NOTHING can beat the sound of and LP.
How do you find these videos? You are such a genius. I think this is
episode 135 from April of 1975. Most of episodes 93 and 52 with Al Green as
guest are already posted, but can you find any more? I have just discovered
and love Al Green and am trying to find all his appearances prior to his
reverend phase.
His magnificent performance of “God Blessed Our Love” shows that Al Green
was preachin’ long before he became a minister! Al Green is one of the
G.O.A.Ts! (Greatest Of All Time)
im sooo glad you were in the mood for Al Green!! THIS is how they did shows
back then: no special effects, no 20 dancers on the stage. was just a big
piece band, a great charasmatic singer out front and most important NO lip
sync!! thank u for posting. i discovered a song i never heard from this
show “God Blessed Our Love” its a great song!
Don Cornelius said “That ought to hold for a little bit” The wonderful
voice of Al Green and his music as well as the Soul Train have been holding
me for over 40 years! I’d still love that dancing too!
They sure don’t make music or show’s like this anymore. Just great stuff
that never get’s old. Classic soul music is thee absolute best! Al Green is
my favorite singer of all time. Thanks for posting. 🙂
Can’t nobody rock it like Al !!
No big fat women with atrocious fake wigs in dem days
What on earth happened to music? Goodness me, the youth of today have no
idea!!
What a legend!

My God! It’s crazy how everyone in this video were so slim back then. That
says so much about the crap the government is putting in our foods today.

I have never seen this episode. AWESOME. I always thought the guitar player
was Willie Mitchell.
yessssss……
esses irmãos americanos tinham a melhor música negra, mas, sem duvida, nós
brasileiros tínhamos a melhor dança para a música deles…
The Good Reverand Al Green preaching to the chior and delivering and
