This came out the year I was born and it’s firmly cemented into my early
childhood memories. Whenever this song came on I’d have to put on my
favorite red boots and shake my diapered booty to it. I’m 38 now and my
uncle still reminds me about it from time to time.
When people born in the 80s and kids born in the 90s laugh at the 80s and
90s for the cheesey clothes and styles….I remind them that THIS is what
those of us born around 1976 thought of the 70s. We were MORTIFIED by the
styles of the decade we were born in, despite a fun tune like this.
When I was growing up, my mom and I were taking my younger cousins home
after they had spent the weekend with us. We had the radio on in the car
and the station was playing this song. My younger cousins thought that the
song said “shake your boobies”, so they went in their house singing this
song as they went through the door. My aunt starting having a fit. My
mom and I couldn’t stop laughing for a while to tell her what the song
actually said.
